Returnees from Indonesia bring in Covid-19 and 8 news from yesterday

KINI ROUNDUP | Here are key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

1. The Health Ministry revealed that at least 43 students returning from Indonesia had been infected with Covid-19.

2. Its director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported a total of 84 new Covid-19 cases and one death and that the country is now consistently seeing larger recovery numbers.

3. Health Minister Dr Adham Baba was embroiled in controversy after a gaffe where he claimed the World Health Organisation comprised 500 countries.

4. Adham later clarified that he had "misspoken" and had meant to say "500 participants".

5. Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang suggested that Noor Hisham would make a better health minister.

6. Umno leaders continued to attack Deputy Health Minister Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali for allegedly flouting the movement control order (MCO).

7. Perak state executive councillor Razman Zakaria, who was in the same event as Noor Azmi, apologised for the function.

8. Civil society groups demanded that the authorities prosecute VIPs, including political leaders, for violating the MCO, like they do any other Malaysian.

9. Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said temporary prisons for MCO violators will begin operation on April 23.
