The Communications and Multimedia Ministry has allocated RM1.32 million as an Incentive Feature Film initiative (ITFC) to local film producers affected by the movement control order (MCO) period to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.
Its minister Saifuddin Abdullah said the allocation was in response to a proposal from the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) to help film producers and encourage them to produce local films.
“Following discussions with the ministry's senior officials, I have approved this fund to several eligible companies. Finas will contact these companies soon,” he said in a statement today.
Saifuddin said this incentive will help local film makers produce and market their films to the local and international markets.
“I will also hold discussions with the stakeholders and look at reports on integrated efforts to empower the national creative industry,” the statement said.
