MCMC lists viral fake news in bid to combat misinformation

CORONAVIRUS | The following are the replies by the relevant agencies to three fake news items that went viral on social media according to a media statement by the quick response team of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia today (MCMC).

  • Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob has denied claims that those detained for defying the Movement Control Order (MCO) are placed in a lockup. He said they are treated according to the stipulated standard operating procedure which emphasises social distancing.
  • The Pahang Social Welfare Department (JKM) has denied claims that there are district JKM hotlines in the state for people to contact for Covid-19 aid during the MCO period until April 14.
  • The Kulim district health office has denied a claim that an employee at TF Value Mart has been infected with Covid-19. - Bernama
