Uda Holdings Berhad today confirmed one of its employees had been infected with Covid-19 and a hotel where he was present with a former minister and former deputy minister is being sanitised.
The employee, referred to as patient 26, is a senior leader at both Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Uda Holdings Berhad.
"Prevention efforts at UDA will be updated, including at its subsidiary Ancasa Hotel Kuala Lumpur (AHKL) to overcome the spread of the virus.
"The UDA management stresses that no cases were reported at the hotel among its in-house guest and business is as usual.
"AHKL will take the necessary measures in accordance with the Health Ministry's standard operating procedure for sanitisation works of the entire hotel area," it said in a statement today.
Yesterday, Malaysiakini reported that patient 26 was spotted a few feet away from the former minister and former deputy minister, both who are MPs, at a government function at the hotel on Feb 27.
One of the MP is with Perikatan Nasional while another is with Pakatan Harapan.
Both had been engaged in a series of separate political meetings amid attempts to address the political turmoil following the collapse of the Harapan government last Monday.
The duo have self-quarantined and waiting for test results to see if they had caught Covid-19 from patient 26.
Patient 26 had attended a government function at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 27, together with the former minister and deputy minister.
According to the Health Ministry, patient 26 had travelled to Shanghai in the middle of January.
He developed a fever and sore throat on Feb 27, the same day of the event, and was tested positive for Covid-19 on Feb 29.
He is now undergoing treatment at the Sungai Buloh Hospital isolation ward.
