Warisan has reiterated its pledge to support Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister.
In a short statement today, Warisan president Shafie Apdal (above) said this was in the interest of Sabah.
"Sabah's leadership will always prioritise the interest of its citizens, especially in the current political climate," he said.
However, Shafie did not state if they were still committed to supporting Pakatan Harapan.
The Harapan federal government had collapsed today with no coalition appearing to have the numbers necessary to form a government.
There was a wave of defections from PKR and Bersatu. The total number of Harapan MPs left are unclear, but it is unlikely to have the 112 needed.
Warisan and its ally Upko have 10 seats in the Dewan Rakyat and were part of Mahathir's cabinet.
Previously, Shafie had pledged support for Mahathir and stated that there was no need for the latter to hand over reigns to PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim.
While Warisan has not stated preference on whether to work with PKR, DAP and Amanah, their Sarawakian counterparts Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has indicated that they have reservations in working with DAP.
