A PKR-backed NGO has denied it will be holding a demonstration demanding for the transition of power from Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya this evening.
In a statement, Jingga 13 Malaysia secretary Afzainizam Rahman said the poster calling for a peaceful demonstration, dubbed "menuntut peralihan kuasa kepada PM8" (demanding transition of power to the eighth PM) that was circulated in social media, is a fake.
According to the 'fake' poster, the demonstration is jointly held by Otai Reformasi, Anwar Ibrahim Club (AIC) and Jingga 13 Malaysia.
The demonstration is supposed to take place at the Perdana Leadership Foundation where the Pakatan Harapan presidential council meeting will be held tonight and before the meeting, the six Harapan top leaders will discuss the transition of power.
The images of several politicians are on the poster. They are former senator and ex-aide of Anwar, Mohamad Ezam Mohamad Nor; PKR Ijok state assemblyperson Dr Idris Ahmad; former PKR Youth deputy chief Fariz Musa; Selayang MP William Leong; and activist Khairul Anuar Ahmad Zainuddin, who is also known as Jonah.
"This is an effort done in mala fide by those who are desperate enough to resort to slandering the reputation of Anwar and other individuals and NGOs that stand firmly with him," said Afzainizam.
"Such desperado political game and gutter politics are meant to create tension, fight and differences between Mahathir and Anwar and to destroy a peaceful transition of power," he said.
