Any water rationing in Malacca following the unsatisfactory levels of several dams will be implemented systematically to minimise the impact of water supply disruption to consumers, said Chief Minister Adly Zahari.

Adly (photo) said the matter would be finalised tomorrow after a meeting of the state executive council, and it was just an early preparation for Malacca to face the hot and dry weather, which is expected to continue until April.

"Right now the water level of the state dam is about 46 percent and at this rate, we should save water as supply will be disrupted if the hot and dry weather continues.

"We will come up with some suggestions, including better scheduling, to ensure that the water supply is not disrupted as a whole," he told reporters after the opening of the Al-Quran Sayyidina Ali College of the Malacca Islamic Religious Department today.

The Al-Quran College was opened by the Malacca Yang di-Pertua Negeri Mohd Khalil Yaakob.
