KIMANIS POLLS | PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said both Pakatan Harapan and Warisan will have to step up their efforts in serving the people.
This follows Warisan's defeat to BN in the Kimanis by-election tonight. BN's Mohamad Alamin defeated his Warisan opponent Karim Bujang by a 2,029-vote majority.
"We have received the results and we accept the decision. Congratulations to the winning candidate and we will continue to serve.
"I believe in Sabah, under the leadership of Shafie Apdal and Warisan as well as Pakatan Harapan (at the federal level), we will step up our efforts.
"It is clear that many of the problems faced by the people are economic problems," he said during a Chinese New Year event at his constituency in Port Dickson.
Anwar added that now was not the time to point fingers but to acknowledge that the discontent was nationwide.
"Now is not the time to blame anyone but action must be taken.
"If we do not accept the reality then the consequences will be dire. It seems to have spread nationwide," he said.
Anwar said the onus did not only fall on Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad but on the entire Harapan leadership including himself.
On a separate matter, Anwar said he will leave it to the party disciplinary board to deal with PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin who has been slapped with a show-cause letter.
