A quote allegedly uttered by Rosmah Mansor in an audio clip released by the MACC today is currently trending on Twitter.
According to multiple Twitter trend tracking websites, "CAN I ADVISE YOU SOMETHING" has been trending the entire afternoon.
The phrase was the opener to the conversation on July 27, 2016 allegedly involving Rosmah and her husband Najib Abdul Razak.
After exchanging a pleasant "hi", the female voice suddenly became irate and loudly said, "Can I advise you something!".
The panicked male voice replied: "Ya! Ya! Hang on! Yes, anything?"
The female voice would go on to complain about the conduct of Abu Kassim Mohamed, the MACC head at the material time.
The female also advised the male on how to deal with a personality from the United Arab Emirates.
At one point, the female said: "Darling, you are the prime minister. You should take charge, not anybody else".
Rosmah refused to address the matter when approached at the Kuala Lumpur High Court today, while her husband suggested that the audio clip appeared to depict a "normal" conversation between spouses.
Najib added that anyone could share their opinions with him when he was the prime minister but ultimately it was he who made the decisions.
In all, the MACC released nine audio clips of conversations which were allegedly recorded in 2016 and involving high-profile individuals.
MACC chief Latheefa Koya said the audio clips were authentic and would be handed to the relevant authorities because it could be used as evidence for many serious offences.
"There are various serious issues arising (from the audio clips), including abuse of power, criminal conspiracy, obstruction of justice, compromising national security, fabrication of false evidence through foreign aid and connivance," she said.
