Students to hold pro-Jawi protest, and 9 news from yesterday

1. The Malaysian Muslim Students Coalition (Gamis) will hold a rally today to defend the teaching of Jawi script and call for Dong Zong to be banned, but police said the rally contravenes the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

2. The Malaysian Bar said the police should not have resorted to using a court injunction to stop Dong Zong’s Chinese Organisations Congress, but simply manage the situation so that opposing groups can hold their activities peacefully.

3. Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam threatened to sue Attorney-General Tommy Thomas for allegedly refusing to prosecute the two men seen in the sex video that implicated Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali, while MCA asked police to release details of expert analysis of the tape.
