1. BN's Wee Jeck Seng scored a landslide victory in Tanjung Piai, winning the parliamentary seat by a 15,086-vote majority.

2. BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi hailed the by-election as a signal that Chinese Malaysian voters have returned to the coalition's fold.
