Permodalan Nasional Bhd's (PNB) iconic Merdeka 118 Tower is more than 42 percent complete and standing at 84 floors.
Work on the building commenced in 2016.
Group chairman, Zeti Akhtar Aziz said PNB’s landmark development, the prestigious Merdeka 118 precinct, is set to become an extraordinary integration of historic and contemporary architecture that is located in a formerly celebrated, yet vibrant enclave of Kuala Lumpur.
"The 118-storey Merdeka Tower overlooks Malaysia's two national landmarks, Stadium Negara and Stadium Merdeka, where Malaysia's independence was declared in 1957.
"Upon completion by 2021, the tower, at a height of 835 metres, will be a new landmark on the Kuala Lumpur skyline," she said during a luncheon talk providing updates on the development.
It was held in conjunction with the inaugural PNB Corporate Summit 2019 today and themed, “Rebooting Corporate Malaysia”.
The one-day summit was organised by PNB Research Institute Sdn Bhd, the wholly-owned research arm of PNB.
Zeti also said the tower is targeting a triple platinum rating with Leadership in Energy and Environmental, GreenRE and Green Building Index certification. This would make it the first in Malaysia to earn such a rating.
