A total of 1,084 administrative assistants (clerical/operational) in schools in Perak have been advised to stop conducting finance-related tasks after the payment of a monthly incentive of RM40 for such tasks, was halted without notice.
Announcing this today, the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) president Azih Muda (photo) said the termination of the incentive was only noticed when staff received their October salaries.
“The termination of the incentive at this very time is very disappointing,” he said, adding that it was also unfair to employees who worked day and night, including Saturdays and Sundays.
Speaking to the media after attending the 62nd-anniversary celebrations of Cuepacs, Azih said he had instructed the union of administrative assistants (education) in Peninsula Malaysia (Keptan), which is also a Cuepacs member, to organise a meeting with the affected employees.
He also expressed the hope that the Education Ministry would explain the rationale behind its decision to put a stop to the payments.
