PKR information chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin has once again slammed those who are harping on the transition of power between Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
He said these individuals are pursuing a disruptive agenda whose aim is to drive wedge between Mahathir and Anwar.
"This issue has been repeatedly raised by a few people with specific motives. Their intention is to create sensational news and to disrupt the relationship between Mahathir and Anwar.
"All parties in the ruling coalition have agreed to the transition and won the last election based on this platform, among others," said Shamsul, who is also Hang Tuah Jaya MP.
In a statement today, Shamsul also warned that continuous politicking and unabating questions on the leadership transition will only serve to undermine the Pakatan Harapan government.
"Mahathir has repeatedly reiterated his commitment to keep his promise, but at the moment the prime minister and his cabinet are working hard to bring the country back on track.
"Therefore, all parties are asked to give Mahathir time to revive the economy while saving the country from destruction due to problems left by the previous government," he said.
Shamsul said PKR believes that the well-being of Malaysians is a priority for both statesmen and that the process of transition will take place just as Mahathir has promised.
Therefore, he added, it is not necessary for parties to try to spark the fire of hostility (between the two) and rather to focus on the things that can bring good and prosperity to all Malaysians.
"Don't stir the hornet's nest," he said.
The party, said Shamsul, promises to stand firmly behind these two leaders and pledges to defend against efforts to break the existing harmony.
Shamsul's statement echoes an earlier call he made in June when he said there are too many interviews and articles about the transition of leadership .
