Air pollutant index (API) readings throughout the Klang Valley have continued to rise amid worsening haze since yesterday morning.

At 10am yesterday, the Environment Department’s API readings recorded Klang at a reading of 91, Shah Alam (96), Putrajaya (99), Petaling Jaya (100) and Cheras (101).

By 9am today, the API readings for all those areas had risen to 119 and above.

Klang recorded 119, Shah Alam (125), Putrajaya (133), Petaling Jaya (134) and Cheras (140).

Under the API, any readings between 51 to 100 is moderate pollution that does not pose any bad effect on health.

Anything from 101 to 200 is considered unhealthy pollution that would worsen the health condition of high-risk people, such as those with heart and lung complications.
