Aide to Balakong rep sent envelope with sharp weapon

A political aide to the Balakong assemblyperson received a threat through an envelope containing a sharp weapon from an unknown individual, which is believed to be linked to the campaign against Jawi lessons in schools.

Kajang police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said police received a report from a 42-year-old man at 5.15pm yesterday on receiving an envelope addressed to his house in Kajang.

Dzaffir said the aide was uncertain of who sent the letter, as he had not received any threats previously.

“However, police are investigating the case under Section 507 of the Penal Code as criminal intimidation had been committed.

“Members of the public who have any information on the case can channel such information to the nearest police station or contact the investigating officer for the case, Md Fahrul Afifi, at 014-3700870,” he said when contacted.

Dzaffir reminded the public against making any speculation or statement that could hamper investigations into the case.

“I call on the community to refrain from making any statement that could affect harmony, cause disunity and enmity with negative intention,” he added.
