Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad surprised folks in Putrajaya when he decided to go on an 11km morning bike ride today.

In a brief video posted on his official YouTube channel, the prime minister was pictured gamely riding in a bicycle helmet, shadowed closely by an entourage also on their bikes.

The prime minister grinned broadly and acknowledged passers-by who were stunned to see the 94-year-old leader on a casual ride.

A spokesperson from the Prime Minister’s Office later confirmed that the prime minister had covered the distance in 45 minutes.

This is not the first time the prime minister has surprised Putrajaya residents by cycling, as he has been spotted on a tandem bike on a number of occasions.
