About 50 members from three Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) branches in Pahang today made police reports against Koon Yew Yin who was said to have insulted the armed forces in the social media.
Paya Besar PVATM branch head Abdullah Seman, 71, said the association demanded stern actions be taken against Koon to preserve the dignity of the armed forces whose members sacrifice their lives for the nation's security.
“We are very upset with Koon’s statement even though he had apologised for his action. The armed forces struggled to maintain the security of the country.
“Does Koon know many soldiers were killed in the course of duty? Some lost their limps in defending the sovereignty of the country. They do not deserve to be insulted,” he said after lodging the report at Kuantan police contingent headquarters today.
Abdullah said also making their reports were Kuantan and Beserah PVATM branches.
He said there should be stern actions taken against Koon as a lesson to the people so as not to issue such insulting statements on social sites even though they could be withdrawn with apologies.
On Tuesday, the media reported that Koon had uploaded a statement that members of the armed forces should replace foreign workers in plantations as they only eat and sleep with the majority never firing a single shot except at the shooting targets.
