Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has taken another shot at PKR president Anwar Ibrahim over the latter's ties with DAP.
"Umno will reject any offer to cooperate with Anwar as long as he is in cahoots with DAP, full stop.
"I have to say this repeatedly because people just don't get it," he said, adding that DAP is Umno's enemy as he claimed it opposed Islam and the Malays.
Zahid was speaking at the opening of the Kuala Kedah Umno division meeting today.
In the 1990s, Zahid was known as an Anwar loyalist, having spoken out against the latter’s sacking as deputy prime minister and deputy Umno president in 1998.
Zahid was briefly part of the opposition and spent a short stint in jail under the ISA.
Eventually, he moved back into Umno which was then controlled by Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the time
After BN's defeat last year, there was speculation that Umno was planning some form of cooperation with PKR, with then-BN secretary-general Nazri Abdul Aziz - who was appointed by Zahid - acting as a go-between.
However, Zahid has recently been attacking Anwar after the PKR president said the former's stance towards DAP was racist.
The Umno president retaliated by saying Anwar was indebted to DAP for realising his political ambitions.
