The swearing-in ceremony of Perak executive council members scheduled for this Thursday has been postponed indefinitely.
This was confirmed by the Perak sultan's office.
The postponement follows a police probe on an incumbent exco member for allegedly raping a domestic worker.
In Perak, members of the exco must renew their oath of office annually.
It is understood that the weekly exco meeting will take place as scheduled tomorrow.
Earlier today, Malaysiakini had obtained confirmation from the Bukit Aman sexual, women and children's investigations division that the police have recorded statements from the alleged victim.
It is unsure if the exco member has been called for questioning as well.
The first-term exco member and second-term state assemblyperson also told Sin Chew Daily that he is innocent.
The current exco line-up comprises of five DAP members, three from Amanah, two from PKR and one from Bersatu.
In a statement today, Perak DAP chairperson Nga Kor Ming said the party viewed the matter with grave concern and will leave the matter to the authorities.
"Appropriate action will be taken depending on the outcome of the investigation by the authorities," he said.
