There are too many interviews and articles about the transition of leadership from Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamed to Anwar Ibrahim, said PKR information chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin.
"I am amused at the incessant hounding of the prime minister by media outlets on this matter," Shamsul said in a statement today.
"All parties in the ruling coalition have agreed to the transition, and won the last election on this platform, among others."
Shamsul warned that continuous politicking and unabating questions on the leadership transition will only serve to undermine the Pakatan Harapan government and foment the rise of extremist politics.
"As the ruling coalition enters its second year as a government, all parties should now focus their energy and mobilise all efforts to deliver on their promises and set out concrete policies to achieve shared prosperity for all.
"In the face of challenges from extreme identity politics, only continuous improvement to the well-being of all Malaysians and enhancement of our overall economy can ensure the survival of democratic politics," his statement read.
"The prime minister has also reiterated time and again his commitment to honour the agreement.
"So let there be no doubt that the transition will occur in due time and in an orderly manner."
