Police are investigating a viral sex video which purportedly features Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali, said Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador.
He also did not rule out calling in the individuals in the alleged video for questioning to facilitate investigations.
"The investigation paper has been opened. We will take action as usual as we did with other cases. We are in the midst of investigating.
"In the process, the individuals (in the video) may or may not be called," he told the media in Putrajaya.
On Wednesday morning, Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz revealed in a video uploaded on his Facebook page that he and Azmin were the individuals in the sex video.
Azmin, however, denied the allegation. He described it as a diabolical plot to ruin his political career.
The PKR deputy president also said that he had instructed his lawyer to take action against the perpetrators behind the issue.
Several hours later, anonymous individuals released another sex video implicating Azmin via new Whatsapp groups.
Azmin's political secretary Hilman Idham today lodged a qazaf (false accusation) report with the Federal Territories Islamic Department (Jawi) as well as police reports against Haziq.
Hilman admitted that he met Haziq to discuss the sex scandal prior to the latter's confession about being taped having sex, but refused to furnish details.
Haziq has also lodged a police report.
