MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki today said "many" more people will be summoned over the case of alleged corruption involving the supply armoured vehicle equipment to a defence agency.
"This case is still in the early stages. In the early stages, many witnesses will be called but I can't give the exact number.
"But we are now aggressively investigating the case," he told a press conference after attending a function at the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Academy in Kuala Lumpur.
On May 13, Malaysiakini reported that two company executives had been remanded on allegations of graft in the RM17 million defence contract.
They were a 53-year-old chief executive officer who is a "Datuk" and a 45-year-old chief financial officer.
DRB-Hicom Bhd subsequently confirmed that MACC was investigating its subsidiary, Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (Deftech).
The contract pertains to the supply of equipment for the Deftech AV8 Gempita and ACV-300 Adnan (above) armoured fighting vehicles to a defence agency between 2014 and 2017.
Yesterday, 39-year-old company owner with the "Datuk Deri" title was also remanded to facilitate the investigation.
