After an audience with Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin has confirmed that a new state exco lineup will be sworn in tomorrow.
Bernama reported Muhyiddin as saying that the swearing-in ceremony will take place at Istana Bukit Serene at 8.30am.
He is believed to have presented Sultan Ibrahim the list of the new state exco lineup at the meeting this morning.
Also seen in the entourage that entered Istana Pasir Pelangi at 10.50am was the vehicle of the new Johor Menteri Besar Dr Sahruddin Jamal, according to Berita Harian.
A day before Sahruddin was sworn in as the 17th menteri besar on April 14, Sultan Ibrahim reportedly set a precondition for the incoming menteri besar – to reshuffle the state executive council.
Sahruddin had promised a new exco lineup shortly after being made menteri besar.
Noting that he would be choosing excos from assemblypersons he feels "comfortable working with," Sahruddin said that his executive council would focus on continuing the state government's efforts to help the people of Johor.
Following this, speculation was rife that at least two state excos would be dropped from the lineup appointed by Sahruddin's predecessor – Tan Hong Pin of DAP and Mazlan Bujang of Bersatu.
The two are said to be not in the Johor palace's good books.
