A traffic police officer manning the Jalan Raja Laut traffic light junction in Kuala Lumpur this morning was hit by a car.
In the 8.11am incident, the officer was standing in the middle of the road when he was suddenly hit by a Mercedes E200 driven by a 25-year-old man.
City Traffic Enforcement and Investigations chief Zulkefly Yahya said the 22-year-old police officer was fortunate to escape serious injuries.
"He was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, while the driver of the car was detained to facilitate investigations,” he said in a statement.
In Gerik, meanwhile, two brothers were killed after the Honda Accord they were in was involved in a collision with a Hino truck at KM16.9 Jalan Raya Timur Barat Fasa 11 Gerik-Kupang at 3.30pm today.
Gerik police chief Ismail Che Isa identified the deceased as Wong Hong Yie, 26, and Wong Hong Chuan, 19.
Their brother, Wong Hong Yau, 22, and uncle, Lim Khem Guan, 42, suffered head and body injuries, and were sent to the Gerik Hospital.
