SEMENYIH POLLS | MCA president Wee Ka Siong has accused Pakatan Harapan supporters of attempting to "attack" his party's ceramah last night.
“They are just new in power and they want to be thuggish?" said Wee who uploaded a video of the incident onto his Facebook page.
The video clip showed several people being held back by police personnel from approaching the MCA stage.
The MCA stage was within earshot of a DAP stage that was set up nearby.
Some of those being held back had chastised the MCA speaker believed to be MCA Youth organising secretary Tee Sen Sein.
It is believed that the incident happened after Tee repeatedly chanted "recognise UEC" while Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching was speaking at the DAP stage.
This was in reference to Harapan's election pledge last year to recognise, with conditions, the United Examination Certificate as a pathway to enter local universities. Putrajaya has claimed that this was a work in progress.
Wee said it would appear that some Harapan supporters got angry after their leaders were challenged.
"(Tee) was not looking for a fight. He was not slandering anyone. He is only asking for an explanation about Harapan's manifesto," he wrote.
Wee thanked the police for maintaining order after the latter pulled the plug on both ceramah after the incident.
