SEMENYIH POLLS | Vote for Pakatan Harapan in the Semenyih by-elections and show that you are taking a stand against the alleged lies told by your party leaders, PAS supporters have been told.

The exhortation was made by Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, who said that PAS leaders were insincere.

In quoting an alleged example, he accused PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang of lying about supporting Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s leadership, something Hadi was purported to have told the prime minister when they met last week.

“The liar met Mahathir and promised to support Mahathir’s leadership. I say that leader is lying. We can see here (in Semenyih) that PAS leaders are going down to the ground and campaigning for the Umno candidate (Zakaria Hanafi).

“Thus, I hope that PAS members take a stand because their leaders are lying and are insincere. Support Harapan and join any of our parties be it Amanah, PKR or Bersatu,” Mohamad said in a video interview with Amanah mouthpiece, Malaysia Dateline last night.

Hadi’s pledge has been a contested issue with PAS claiming it was only a “sample” to show the opposition party’s commitment to Mahathir’s leadership.

Mahathir, however, has referred to a written agreement by Hadi that his party would not support Umno in the Semenyih polls.

More evidence of lying

Another example of dishonesty among PAS leaders involved its central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, Mohamad said.

After previously denying involvement, Nik Abduh recently admitted that he was the person heard in an audio recording saying he had received money from Umno.

He said that after the recording was leaked, PAS leaders, including Hadi, told him to deny that it was his voice in the clip.

Mohamad said this constituted as lying. “PAS is now known as a party that lies. Nik Abduh said his leaders told him to lie and his leaders have not denied it.

“What’s worse is that Nik Abduh said even his father (late PAS spiritual adviser Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat) lied as well,” he said.

Thus, he urged PAS members to reject such lies.

“I believe PAS members remain loyal to the party’s struggle, but the lies of their leaders, the money they received (from Umno) have been exposed. They need to make a stand because they are being played by their leaders,” Mohamad said.

BN is fielding Umno's Zakaria Hanfi against Harapan’s Bersatu candidate Muhammad Aiman Zainali in the March 2 Semenyih by-election.

PSM’s Nik Aziz Afiq Abdul and independent Kuan Chee Heng are also contesting.
