Police this morning gunned down two suspected members of a kidnap-for-ransom gang, and rescued a Bangladesh national in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.
Kajang district police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yusoff said the suspects - believed to be foreigners - had earlier been involved in a shootout with a police team that raided the house in Taman Mudun, about 1.35am.
"The suspects were killed in the shootout, and police managed to rescue a kidnap victim in his 30s, who hails from Bangladesh," he told reporters at the scene.
One of the dead suspects is believed to the mastermind of the gang, which preyed on fellow foreigners to kidnap for ransom.
No identification documents were found on the suspects.
The rescued Bangladeshi was believed to be kidnapped in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, last Friday, and held in the Cheras house since.
Police also seized a 9mm pistol and a parang at the scene.
