Business radio station BFM 89.9 has been urged to lodge a police report against those implicated in allegations of sexual harassment.

Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh said in a statement today that the report should be lodged although the station has terminated two of its employees following an internal investigation into the matter.

This is because the perpetrators should be exposed to criminal liability, said the DAP leader, who is a lawyer by profession. 

"This is a very serious matter which must be addressed immediately and BFM must take the necessary steps to reveal the outcomes and evidence gathered from the said internal investigations to the police for the necessary action to be taken.

"A failure to do so may amount to the withholding of such evidence on BFM's part," Ramkarpal said. 

Yesterday, BFM announced that it had sacked two of its employees after an internal investigation on allegations of sexual harassment.

The allegations were highlighted in an anonymous letter circulated to various news organisations, including Malaysiakini, last month.

The letter was purportedly written by a former BFM employee and details several instances of sexual misconduct that the station’s management was allegedly covering up.
