A Honda Malaysia dealership staff was fired on the grounds of misconduct over her insensitive social media posting regarding the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
"We would like to update that upon concluding the internal investigation and the said employee found to have breached the company’s policy with her misconduct, the said employee’s employment with Sri Utama Auto Sdn Bhd has been terminated with immediate effect," said the dealership director Wong Chee Keong.
"We once again apologise for the hurt her comment has caused. We will be more attentive in training and educating our employees to instil high moral values and respect for all individuals at all times," he said.
On Dec 18, following the social media comment by the staff which had gone viral, the company suspended her and conducted an internal investigation on the matter.
Setiawangsa Umno Youth wing had lodged a police report against the Honda dealership staff and several other individuals over their comments in a Facebook posting.
Adib, 24, was part of the rescue team that had been deployed in response to vehicles that were torched by rioters near the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in Subang Jaya on Nov 26.
On reaching the scene, the police claimed that Adib was dragged out of his vehicle and beaten up, causing him to suffer several broken ribs and multiple organ injuries.
