PAS and Umno can never unite, says Hadi

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has reiterated that it is impossible for PAS and Umno to be a united party due to their difference in ideologies.

The Star reported Hadi as saying that the two are separate entities with completely different ideologies, with PAS’ membership being based on Islam while Umno's is based on race.

"But co-operation and understanding can happen," he added.

Commenting on the anti-Icerd rally tomorrow, Hadi reportedly said the two parties had agreed to come together in the rally "to show force."

He said that although the UN convention had an anti-discrimination agenda, it involved a concept of “discrimination” that was defined by the West, which "is different from ours."

“We come together now like we did against the colonialists before independence to insist that Islam be placed as the official religion in the Federal Constitution,” he added.

Hadi said the rally was to "save the nation, which became confused over different statements Pakatan Harapan leaders have given on Icerd."

PAS is expecting more than 500,000 to attend the gathering, which is also backed by Umno.
