The board of hajj pilgrimage fund Tabung Haji has lodged two police reports against the agency’s former chairperson and Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim.
Reports were also lodged against former TH CEOs Ismee Ismail and Johan Abdullah, as well as chief operating officer Adi Azuan Abdul Ghani, chief financial officer Rozaida Omar, legal adviser Hazlina Mohd Khalid and senior general manager for corporate services and real estate Rifina Md Ariff.
According to a statement today, the TH board said one police report relates to the misuse of RM22 million for political activities. The fund was meant for Yayasan Tabung Haji (YTH).
YTH was established in 2016 for humanitarian efforts and welfare activities, among others.
“The trustees of YTH at the time were Abdul Azeez, Ismee, Johan, Ali and Rozaida,” said the board.
A second police report was aimed squarely at Ismee, Hazlina and Rifina over the disposal of a 95 percent stake in PT TH Indo Plantations.
The stake was initially held by two TH subsidiaries – TH Indopalms Sdn Bhd and TH Indo Industries Sdn Bhd.
“The report was lodged today based on internal investigations by the new management that was appointed in July 2018,” said the board.
This is the second week in a row where Ismee – a known associate of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak – has had to face negative press.
Last week, Ismee, among others, were sued by Felda Global Ventures Bhd as part of an effort to recover RM514 million.
