Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said the salaries of cabinet members and their deputies will continue to be subjected to a 10 percent cut.
"It looks like I don't have good news for ministers and their deputies...,” he told reporters in Parliament this afternoon.
Lim said it is not for him to decide if the cut would be halted.
"I have not received any instructions (to end the cut). So their salaries will still be cut by 10 percent," the minister added.
Lim was asked if the government would restore the full salaries of ministers and deputy ministers after it shuts down the Tabung Harapan at the end of the year.
Lim said the savings from the cut are not channelled to the fund, but directly to the government.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad announced the pay cut as part of Putrajaya's cost-cutting measures.
The state governments of Penang, Kedah, Johor followed suit in slashing the salaries of their respective chief minister, menteri besar and exco members.
Pakatan Harapan had launched the Tabung Harapan on May 30 to seek donations to settle the nation's colossal debt, which the new administration had blamed its predecessor for.
As of 3pm today, the fund has collected RM197,885,236.42.
Before the pay cut, the full salary of a cabinet minister was RM14,907 whereas deputy ministers earned RM10,848. The prime minister received RM22,827 a month and the deputy prime minister, RM18,168.
The MACC has since published the monthly income of Harapan lawmakers. Initially, Lim had topped the list with an income of RM86,464.92.
Since Nov 2, DAP lawmaker and Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Nga Kor Ming took the pole position with an income of RM101,160.00.
