Najib Abdul Razak has posed a question to DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang on the absence of ministers and deputy ministers from the Dewan Rakyat.
The former premier said when he first raised the issue of missing Pakatan Harapan MPs, Lim responded that the rows of empty seats reflected his (Najib's) irrelevance.
“The following day, I replied to Lim that even when I was not in the Dewan Rakyat, the ministers and their deputies were missing.
“I was not present in the Dewan yesterday morning, but the ministers still went missing.
“So my question to Lim is – do Harapan ministers consider me or Parliament irrelevant?” he added in a Facebook posting this morning.
On Tuesday, Najib posted a photograph of himself delivering a speech in the Dewan Rakyat before rows of empty seats.
“When I write on FB (Facebook), there are those who tell me to bring (the issue) to Parliament. When I bring it to Parliament, many ministers and deputy ministers disappear,” he said.
Thanking Najib for the photograph, Lim said it showed “how low Najib had fallen from the mighty position of the prime minister of the country and how irrelevant he is now to Malaysians...”
The Iskandar Puteri MP added that when Najib was speaking, there were several meetings taking place in Parliament, including one involving the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and two ministerial briefings on forthcoming parliamentary business.
Commenting on the issue, Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin quipped that perhaps the ministers and deputy ministers had grown tired of listening to Najib.
"It's up to the ministers and MPs to listen or not listen. Everything will be in the Hansard anyway and officers present will take notes, so I don't think it’s a big issue.
"So I'm not sure why they didn't listen, maybe they have listened (to Najib) too often. Whether they're tired of hearing it, or what, only God knows," he said.
