Anwar sworn in as Port Dickson MP
The Wakandan: Once again, congratulations Anwar Ibrahim.
I look forward to that day, if you become our prime minister, that you will be a step better than Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
That you will defend the marginalised, the minority, the weak and the oppressed; that you will uphold our constitution and its spirit.
That being the case, good days will be ahead for Malaysia and may Allah bestow His blessing upon you and your family.
Mano: Congratulations, sir. I would not have liked to have any of the other contenders win this Port Dickson by-election.
But, I and many others are worried, very worried about many things you did after the royal pardon and some unsavoury alliances and attendances at some functions, which you could have avoided during the campaigning period of this by-election.
While earlier we were on the streets fighting for rule of law, against what was done to you and your family, now, you have left us wondering with many questions unanswered.
I, as an ordinary citizen and you as an MP and poised for leading roles in the country, I feel that you have a duty to allay our fears.
Anonymous_82169d69: Mano, I'm sure many other Malaysians share the same feelings as you about Anwar. Myself included.
Anonymous 1802761448130592: Heartiest congratulations to Anwar on being sworn in as Member of Parliament for Port Dickson.
We look forward to you working harmoniously with your colleagues in Pakatan Harapan. If I may add, please never ever even consider any form of political cooperation with Umno, PAS, MCA or MIC.
Anonymous_fa2f204a: Now that you got your wish, please be humble, serve the rakyat and do not be fixated on becoming prime minister.
Your turn will come when it comes.
HangTuahPJ: Anwar, when you are PM, please do not forget all those non-bumis (together with the bumis), who made many sacrifices and fought for your freedom, even though you were a racist and religious bigot at that time.
Even when you cursed the temples in Penang and Indian Malaysians knew about it, they could not stand by and close their eyes (and hearts) seeing you and your family being victimised.
Most of your defence lawyers were Indians. They fought tooth and nail for you.
Always remember, all Malaysians, irrespective of race and religion, stood up for you. Please remember this when you become PM.
Pakcik Am: Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Kit Siang and Shafie Apdal can learn so much from one another.
Patathewoonie: Indeed, with the three heavyweight seniors sitting in the same row (in Parliament), they can beat the opposition parties flat.
Mixed feelings for Danyal seeing new MP sworn in
Anak JB: Remember what electoral watchdog Bersih, as well as lawyers Siti Kasim and Ambiga Sreenevasan plus many critics mentioned about (the by-election being a) waste of money and not the way for Anwar to stake his claim, and that this is not parliamentary democracy?
Presumably, the majority have spoken and given Anwar a thumping mandate.
Anon: Danyal Abdullah will always be remembered as the MP who betrayed his constituents. That is his legacy.
Pakcik Am: Danyal has followed in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi. He has sacrificed his position for the greater good.
Service to Port Dickson is service to the whole country. This is because Port Dickson was once the pride of the country for many years with its clear waters and pristine beauty.
It was also a money spinner economically as local and Singaporean tourists once flocked there during weekends and public holidays.
Dr M: Of course I'm happy to have Anwar back in Parliament
Mission Accomplished: It is most encouraging to have the two pillars of the government in Parliament together with the strong and seasoned politician, Lim Kit Siang.
They will belittle the racists and the bigots of the land who are squatting shamelessly in the opposition.
If the people of Malaysia continue their strong support for the Pakatan Harapan administration, the irritating pests can easily be got rid of.
Capo: We thank the prime minister for extending a nice welcome for newly-minted Port Dickson MP Anwar.
But we still don't trust Mahathir on whatever he says concerning Anwar. You had better not overstay your welcome.
Anonymous 1802761448130592: Why are some naysayers here such pessimistic recalcitrants?
Won't you be happy to see our country move forward again after all the damages inflicted on our nation over the last few years by the previous regime?
Won't you like to see your children and our grandchildren live in a country that is united, progressive, prosperous, peaceful and harmonious?
Or would you rather live in countries like Zimbabwe, Syria, Iraq, etc?
Goldee: At least Dr M acknowledged that some are trying to separate them and there are people wanting to drive a wedge between them, similar to 1998.
I believe Dr M realised it and hopes they would not succeed.
