Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said police had made the right move in deciding not to further investigate a report lodged by his aide over DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang's claims regarding several high-profile murders.
"This is right, because the truth is that I am not involved in all these cases which have been investigated thoroughly and completely and have gone through the courts for years," Najib said in a Facebook post tonight.
He was responding to a Malaysiakini article quoting Sentul district police chief S Shanmugamoorthy Chinniah as saying that there was nothing to investigate from the report and that it was a civil matter.
However, in a separate event in Johor today, inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said that a probe would be launched.
Yesterday, Malaysiakini had sighted the report filed by the aide with the Sri Hartamas police station.
The complainant had urged the police to investigate Lim, based on a Malaysiakini article where the latter said in a statement that he would reopen investigations into the deaths of Altantunya Shaariibuu, Kevin Morais, Hussain Najadi, Teoh Beng Hock and Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed, if he were prime minister.
