PKR POLLS | A fight erupted between PKR members after a press conference in Seberang Jaya, Penang today.

According to various news reports, the ruckus occurred after the PKR election committee announced that all polling results from Kedah would be invalidated, while the results in Penang were accepted.

Videos posted by PKR member Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, better known as Ratu Naga, showed one member trying to fend off others with a banquet chair.

At one point another individual also flung a chair as a projectile, but it was safely caught by someone else.

PKR Youth chief candidate Dr Afif Bahardin is then seen entering the fray urging everyone to calm down.

Speaking to Malaysiakini, Afif said some members were not happy with the election committee's announcement.

"They tried to surround the committee, so those in charge of security stepped in, that's when the fighting started," he said when contacted.

Free Malaysia Today reported that at least one person was hurt during the fight.

The PKR polls which began today had been dogged by technical difficulties surrounding its e-voting system.

Prior to the move to invalidate all results in Kedah, nine divisions in the state had their polls suspended.

The errors have led the PKR election committee to postpone elections in Perlis and Perak which were due to be held tomorrow.

The committee has also suspended party elections in Negeri Sembilan and Malacca which were due to be held on Sept 29.
