There have been criticisms levelled against the appointment of lawyer Sitpah Selvaratnam to lead the government's initiative to lay claim to superyacht Equanimity – the RM1 billion vessel that was alleged to have been bought with illegally acquired 1MDB money.
According to the critics, Sitpah was linked to the former firm of now attorney-general Tommy Thomas, resulting in accusations of conflict of interest.
Thomas has yesterday defended her appointment, saying she was the best pick for the job.
