Sabah cabinet has approved proposal to build I-Port - Junz

The proposal to be build the i-Port in Kibagu, Sepanggar near Kota Kinabalu received the approval of the Sabah cabinet recently, said state agriculture and food industry minister Junz Wong.

He said once completed, fish landing operations would be transferred from the Sabah Fish Marketing Sdn. Bhd. (Safma) jetty to i-Port.

“The Safma jetty can no longer cope in providing ice supply, water, bunkers and ship upgrading and maintenance facilities in view of the increase in the number of commercial fishing vessels calling at the jetty,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He added that the i-Port would cost RM200 million and that the state government would be seeking an allocation from the federal government for the purpose.
