One hundred Felda Jengka settlers in Maran lodged a police report claiming that Felda's top management had failed to settle their special incentive payments totalling RM5,000.
Their representative, Razali Ithnain, 56, said the disbursement of the incentive was announced by former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, July last year.
According to Razali, until now, they have yet to receive the incentive while most settlers had already received their payments as early as August.
"When we asked the Felda manager, we were constantly asked to wait... and until now we have yet to receive any payments.
"They then requested for us to do an agreement to rejoin Felda and we had even sent 50 percent of our agricultural produce to the factory. However, after doing all that, Felda still failed to resolve our issue.
"We feel cheated by the promises made by the previous government and even wonder if the promises were just election bait to get settlers to support BN,” he told reporters when met after lodging the police report.
Meanwhile, a settler from Felda Jengka 10, Awang Daud, 66, said he felt cheated after having to return RM5,000 after the Felda management claimed to have wrongly deposited the money to his account on Jan 2.
"After checking the matter with the Felda headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, I was informed that the payment had been released and no instructions had been made to return the money given. Then, they asked for my bank account, but, until now, I have yet to receive any payment and no explanation was provided from the Felda management at the regional level and in Jengka,” he said.
