The Penang government has invited Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma to visit Penang and examine its e-commerce ecosystem.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said his predecessor and current Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng had asked Jack Ma to visit the island.
“We are working on the digital transformation of Penang.
"Definitely, we can benefit from Ma’s experience and hopefully attract more investments,” he told reporters during a courtesy call by the minister counsellor of the China Embassy in Malaysia, Chen Chen.
The minister counsellor said the Chinese government was optimistic on greater cooperation with Penang to attract more business and investments from the country.
