Negeri Sembilan Umno Information chief Jalaluddin Alias (above) has offered himself to contest for a Umno Supreme Council seat in the party's election this June.
The Jelebu Umno division chief said he made the decision in the spirit of defending the fate of religion, race and country.
"If I'm given the mandate by the (party) members, I am very confident of being able to help the party revive itself after the black and bitter episode of Barisan Nasional's (BN) defeat in the 14th general election.
"I think Umno should not dwell too long over the loss which caused it to lose power to govern the country, but instead work quickly to restructure the party and its machinery to enable the sacred institution to remain relevant to the Malays in particular, and Malaysians in general," he said in a statement to Bernama today.
