Umno acting president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today became the third opposition party leader to pay a courtesy call to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
"Praise be to God. In conjunction with ramadan, I met Mahathir, the prime minister.
"I hope this meeting will bring good to all," Zahid wrote on Twitter, after the meeting at the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya this morning.
Zahid is the third major opposition party leader to meet with Mahathir in recent weeks after PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and PBB leader Abang Johari Abang Openg.
Last year, both Zahid and Mahathir were engaged in a war of words prompted by the former's decision to question the latter's "Malay-ness".
Zahid claimed Mahathir's "original" identity card had implied that the latter was of Indian descent.
Following this, Mahathir accused Zahid of having massive wealth and was plotting against then prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.
Syukur alhamdulillah, sempena dengan bulan Ramadan al-Mubarak saya telah bertemu dengan YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Perdana Menteri Malaysia. Semoga pertemuan ini memberi kebaikan kepada semua. @chedetofficial #Ramadhan pic.twitter.com/7anYeX7D2t
