Perlis Menteri Besar Azlan Man said today he has not received any letter of expulsion from Umno or Barisan Nasional (BN), despite Perlis BN chairperson Shahidan Kassim announcing the matter yesterday.
As such, Azlan said, the question of his expulsion was a non-issue as the matter cannot be decided by only one individual.
“There is no letter... who expelled me from what? There is no expulsion… it cannot be done by one person alone,” he said when met by reporters at the Bunga Raya Complex of the Sultan Abdul Halim Airport in Alor Star, after sending off the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, who left for Kuala Lumpur.
Azlan, 60, who is Bintong assemblyperson, was appointed and sworn in as Perlis menteri besar for the second term yesterday, after BN retained the state in the 14th general election on May 9, winning 10 out of the 15 state seats, while Pakatan Harapan got three, and PAS, two.
On the same day, Shahidan announced that Perlis Umno had proposed to the Umno top leadership to expel Azlan from the party, saying that the latter did not receive the support of the majority of Perlis BN assemblymen.
