Anwar Ibrahim a free man

PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim was released after serving over three years in prison for a sodomy charge, following a full royal pardon.

Anwar told Malaysiakini in an interview just hours later that he was pardoned by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the basis of his second sodomy conviction being a "travesty of justice."

Speaking at a press conference earlier, Anwar said he holds no grudge against former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak for his incarceration.

Anwar also said that he is no rush to become the prime minister, and pledged support for Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his deputy Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The Pakatan Harapan presidential council will discuss today whether Anwar will hold any government positions.

Najib-linked homes raided by cops

Scores of police officers, including from Bukit Aman's Commercial Crime Investigation Department, raided houses and apartments linked to Najib, believed to be in relation to the 1MDB scandal.

Meanwhile, 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy has joined the list of individuals barred from leaving the country by the new Pakatan Harapan government.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore offered "further assistance" to Malaysia regarding 1MDB-related transactions.

Mahathir revealed how former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail was preparing to charge Najib over the 1MDB scandal before he was removed from his position.

The California Central District Court ordered superyacht Equanimity, allegedly bought with funds misappropriated from 1MDB, to be turned over to the US government.

The Finance Ministry said in a statement that GST will be fixed at zero percent from June 1.
