DAP has distanced itself from the comments of newly-elected Jelutong MP RSN Rayer, who called for TV3 to be shut down.
DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang said this was neither the policy of DAP nor Pakatan Harapan.
He said Rayer had explained that he was venting his personal frustrations at how TV3 had vilified the Penang government and incumbent chief minister for the last 10 years.
Lim said he himself has been endlessly demonised by Umno and BN leaders, propagandists and cybertroopers "and I do not think anyone can equal my frustrations at such lies, fake news and false information".
"(But) DAP and Pakatan Harapan leaders must set the tone for a new Malaysia, where there will no place for vengeance and settling of scores, unless the law had been broken," he said in a statement today.
Rayer had on Facebook called for TV3's broadcasting licence to be revoked.
However, Lim said Rayer would abide by Harapan's principles on press freedom.
