Gerakan has finalised its list of candidates for the coming 14th General Election (GE14).
Its president, Mah Siew Keong said the party’s Central Working Committee (CWC) in a meeting at the party headquarters yesterday, had carefully assessed and discussed the candidacy of the party coordinators.
He said the CWC unanimously decided to make some changes to the list of party coordinators after considering views, feedback and proposals from party members at all levels.
"We believe the slated changes are necessary to reflect the latest political developments, sentiments from the grassroots and evaluations.
“The changes will better position the party towards achieving our aim to improve the electoral results in GE14, and it will renew and strengthen unity and cooperation within and outside the party.
"Most importantly, the winnability and popularity of the coordinators were considered and changes were made to ensure our frontliners are supported by all party members, Barisan Nasional friends and above all, the local communities in the respective constituencies," Mah said in a statement here today.
Mah said the finalised coordinator list would be submitted to Prime Minister and BN chairperson Najib Razak.
"The party remains optimistic and confident with the electoral preparations and we are on course to achieve a breakthrough in GE14.
"I call on all party members to support the party’s decision by sharing a sense of unity and mission to ensure the party achieves an improved electoral performance in GE14,” he added.
