Prominent academician Wan Saiful Wan Jan has left the think-tank he co-founded and speculation is rife that he might be contesting in the coming general election.

Pakatan Harapan sources confirmed with Malaysiakini that Wan Saiful would join Bersatu, which is helmed by former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad and ex-deputy premier Muhyiddin Yassin.

The sources said an announcement would be made soon.
