Seremban MP Anthony Loke has fired a sarcastic salvo at MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon for claiming that his party stood a good chance of winning the parliament seat.
Chong, who is hoping to defeat the two-term MP in the coming general election, claimed DAP faces a dilemma in explaining its decision to support Dr Mahathir Mohamad as Pakatan Harapan's prime minister candidate despite raining criticism on him in the past.
“Ya. Ah Chong is right,” said Loke in a Facebook post this afternoon.
“I dare not even walk in Seremban town and am afraid to go to the Seremban market,” added the DAP organising secretary.
Loke, whose posting include the hashtags “#sarcasm” and “#learn from Mahathir”, said people would scold him for working with the “dictator” Mahathir (photo) to oust Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
“Really afraid to face election campaign this round. DAP is in big trouble due to Dr M,” he added.
Earlier, Free Malaysia Today quoted Chong as stating that Chinese voters had supported DAP in the previous polls because it promised a change of government.
“Previously, 85 percent of the Chinese supported a change of government, but now those who believe the government can change is increasingly small,” he added, attributing this to Mahathir.
Chong said the Malay Seremban electorate would be one of MCA’s targets, as the constituency has 44 percent Malay voters, 41 percent Chinese and 14 percent Indian.
DAP's rivals have repeatedly accused it of hypocrisy for working with Mahathir, whom it once accused of racism, corruption and abuse of power.
Similarly, Umno has taken Mahathir to task for collaborating with DAP when he had labelled the predominantly-Chinese party as racist in the past.
