T'ganu Harapan: BN may give Hadi a free ride

BN may not field candidates against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, who is expected to defend the Marang parliamentary and the Rhu Rendang state seats, Terengganu Pakatan Harapan said today.

"There are rumours that BN will not contest in Marang to give that leader an easy path.

“This opens the possibility of a straight fight between PAS and Amanah,” state Harapan information chief Hambali Abdul Latiff said in a statement, but noted that the rumours cannot be verified.

"The same goes for Rhu Rendang, which is held by PAS through its president.

“Again, this opens the possibility of a straight fight," he added.

Hambali said this in the context of Terengganu Harapan having to prepare for multi-cornered fights.

Hadi has been repeatedly accused of cosying up to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and facilitating the warming of ties between PAS and its arch rivals Umno.

The duo have shared the same stage several times, while Hadi was allowed to commence initial legislative steps towards amending the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 (Act 355).

In another development, Terengganu Harapan announced its leadership lineup today, and named state Amanah leader Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad as its chairperson.

His deputies are state PKR and Bersatu leaders Azan Ismail and Razali Idris.

While Terengganu Harapan have distributed the eight parliamentary seats among themselves, negotiations on the 32 state seats are still underway.
